Modernist work of art

This is not a very famous painting, but it grabbed my attentions right away. The reason why this painting grabbed my attention while I was wandering through the Internet because of it's painting Techniques, is the oil painting. This art work here is oil on panel, and the subject matter of this painting was took place back in the seventeenth century,which is one of the reason why I chose this painting. I love this painting so much, for it's style, colors, subject matters and technique of this painting. Great paintings like that usually worth seven digits prize, and very easy to burn into my mind.

As you can see from the picture above, the texture is obviously very smoother, and the shapes that the artists chose to put on this painting were both geometric and organic. The sharp edges of the stele are the perfect example of geometric shapes. The wheels of the car are organic shapes. Lines in this painting are finely thin, and with both straight and curve. Green color of the trees are the majority coloring of this painting, we call this type if color cool color. In the center of the painting, there is a spot where warm color took place, are the nobles riding on a carriage and horses. A beautiful scene of a horse-drawn carriage riding through the park that was surrounded with trees had appeared perfectly in the painting.

Lets talk about the balance of this painting. Starts with the horizontal balance, by just looking at the painting for the very first moment, I already can tell it not balance. The heavy colors stuck on the top of the painting, and leaving the light color of the sand at the bottom. Same thing happen with the vertical balance. It is so obvious that the right side is heavier than the left side. The focal point of the painting is the carriage, and it is facing the left; showing a direction toward the left side of the painting. If look a little bit closer, the red umbrella that the lady was holding really stood out because of it redness color. I think the artist was trying to show the beauty of human in the nature. The whole scene gave me a really peaceful and warm because the subjects that the artist chose were perfectly matched. This showed the sign of harmony.

Monday!!

Five out of Five, this is another public art in downtown. Mo, Dominika and I noticed this wonderful art work while we were on our way home from the Oriental Museum. The trip to the museum was so fun. First of all, we had fun trying to figure out how to get there in Mo's car. Second, it was so interesting and excited to find out that the Museum closed on Mondays. WOW, closed on Mondays, which was the day we went there. :( The weather outside was really nice, so we enjoyed the time we had in the car, we listened to songs, and talked about silly things and we discovered this wonderful public art, enjoy!!

Sunday!!!

Four of out five, anther dairy entry. Hm....Sorry, I should call it an assignment instead because I post them all at once. Sunday, October 29, 2007, was another boring day that I had through out my life. I played video games, read the text books, sleep, eat, and draw like usual. While I was reading my wonderful, insteresting, thick, heavy and long chapter from my text book "Living With Art", and I found a really interesting image that I didn't notice before. It is on page 470. It was so obvious that I was bored of reading the chapter and flipping around with the pages, and accidentally found the image. That is an image of art from China, which was the country I came from. WOW, so proud of myself on this discovery!! Flip to the page and enjoy it NOW!!

Saturday!!!

The Third out of five, it was one of many boring Saturdays that I had. I sketch this ugly man with the Paint again. Be really honest to you guys, I didn't actually drew this GUY right here for this assignment, but well, I didn't have much chance to face ART, since I am a really nerdy person who would love to stay home rather than going out. So, I post him here as one of the dairy, I drew him with love and patience, hoping him would come out really handsome and just like my future husband. Well, life is cruel, he didn't come out handsome as I expected, need to be improve. Grrrrrrrr, what a life!!!

Thursday!!!

Well, the second of the five dairy. On Thursday, I didn't have to go to school or even have a chance to go out and have a walk because I had to go to my uncle's restaurant and gave him a little bit help. One of his employee was sick. Oh yeah, it the flu season. Anyway, that is not the point. The point that I wannt point is the actually job that I have to do in my uncle's restaurant. It is not a very fancy restaurant, nor the foods are very good. However, one thing that I like about the restaurant is that my uncle always make the dishes looks good before he bring them onto the customer's table. Let' me show you all one of the thing that my uncle's son, which is my cousin did!!! And my job is just to put thing together and make them look nice and clean!! :)Isn't that cute???

Blood? Halloween!!!!

The first dairy of five will be this bloody color like water fountain around the loop. Don't just look at it and think it is just some rusty water. It is almost Halloween, the city made the color to be bloody and orange color in purpose. There is also something that looked like a haunted house next to the water fountain too. You should go take a look sometimes during this month, it's cool.
Well, I know Gitte is going to ask me why I think this is an art for sure. So, I am going to explain why I think this is an art. According to our text book, we all know that if something that is created with purpose, we can call such an object an art. Something happen here, the water fountain itself does not made to provide drinking water, but to decorate the place. The color of the water is usually clear, and you see the orange to bloody red color water here is to match with the seasonal holiday, Halloween. Why orange? I don't know, because the pumkin is orange perhaps. That is not a questiong related to art, so I am not going to answer that. Haha, enjoy and have a happy halloween!!
I am not going to tell you the exact location, you go find it out!!!! Hahaha!!
